The oldest "Pizzaiolo" of
the whole pizza history is from Veneto
It was discovered by the Veronese side of the Garda Lake a baked dough from the bronze
age. Unfortunately for people from Naples, the proof in favour of whom saying
"pizza" thinks about Naples, aren' t remote enough to bear comparison with the
4.000 years of the first pizza-snak of the history.
And here is the proof, the "coup ou theatre" : the most ancient testimony of our
"trade" neither comes from Pompei, nor from Ercolano, but from the Veronese side
of the Garda Lake. To our great surpise, the paternity sceptre of Pizza passes on to
Veneto region. That little pizza coming from the bronze age, that is to say 2 millennia
before Christ, is actually a mixture of very raw wheat ( the grain is still wrapped in its
glume and there are also the traces of some remains), of millet and perhaps of linseed.
The lot, smashed exactly like a pizza which after 4.000 years still preserves the
fingerprints of the prehistoric pizza-maker, was then baked inside a close oven.
Another mistery, revealed by archaeologists, is the irregular shape of the pizza. It was
simply caused by a bite probably given by a child who must not have enjoyed it at all.
Otherwise he wouldn' t certainly have got rid of it flinging it into the lake, where it
has preserved so far under two and a half metres of water. |
